The ARRL Defines ARESMAT as:
The ARESMAT concept recognizes that a neighboring section's ARES resources can be quickly overwhelmed in a large-scale disaster. ARES members in the affected areas may be preoccupied with mitigation of their own personal situations and therefore not be able to respond in local ARES operations. Accordingly, communications support must come from ARES personnel outside the affected areas. This is when help may be requested from neighboring sections' ARESMAT teams. To read more follow this link to the ARRL website.
The ARRL definition of ARESMAT limits it to the Section Emergency Coordinators to send teams across Section boundaries. That seems to miss the mark in today's world. I propose that it should start closer to home at the EC and DEC level. To that end I'm going to devote a section of this web site to collecting Contact Information from nearby ARES, RACES, MARS, groups and posting on this site. This information will only be available to registered members of this site. I also hope to collect copies of or links to their Emergency Communications Plans and post them here.
This information may be generally available to the public but I feel the steps to require registration are necessary to keep Spammers from collecting email addresses and to keep the work phone numbers private. I assume you have downloaded the WC-ARES Org Chart from the Files to Download page and have the names and contact info for the Williamson County EC (Emergency Coordinator) and the Assistant Emergency Coordinators (AECs) and know which Ham Radio operators that are the liaisons to the below listed Served Agencies. Please contact us first before trying to contact our Served Agencies.
It is assumed that if you are looking at the below information it is to gain a better understanding of what WC-ARES does or that we are all to busy putting our lives and homes back together after some (insert your favorite man made or natural) event has happen here in Williamson Co.
The ARESMAT lists assumes you have Internet access or have radio contact with somebody that can access the web server in Rolling Meadows, IL where this web page is stored and that Rolling Meadows was not taken out by the same Fire, Flood, Earthquake, Tornado, you get the picture, that Williamson County was hit by. Since Rolling Meadows is 1100 miles away it is assumed to survive. Enough of my monologue. |
